Pali Football Report
A game day program dedicated to the Palisades Charter High School Football ProgramVolume 1 Issue 4 November 8, 2013 By Dr. Mark Bamberger
When the seniors step into the playoffs and onto the field for this next game it may be the last time that they do so as members of the Palisades Charter High School Football team. True, we all hope the there are more games, but whether it’s this week or later this month, their Dolphin careers are coming to an end. Yes, some of the guys will be “playing on Saturdays,” but for most this will be it.
Many in this group first met as freshmen. These guys have played for four coaches (Ray Marsden and Tony Ryan at the JV level, then Coaches Perry Jones and now Tim Hyde with the Varsity); they’ve trained together, lifted, met, reviewed films, ran, stayed on overnights together, enjoyed talent shows and campouts. They have had pre-game meals together, laughed and yelled at and with one another. This is a group that has travelled across the San Fernando Valley together. They’ve had some big wins over these years. But it hasn’t all been gravy. They’ve travelled over 100 miles east to the Imperial Valley, only to get smoked by national football power Vista Murrieta. Crespi. Let’s forget about that one. They’ve spent summer days as far away as Claremont, and Pico Rivera. There have been great victories as well as painful losses and injuries. Yet through it all, they’ve hung together as a group, as they’ve gotten, bigger, stronger, taller, faster, better, more experienced and wiser. So tonight, as our seniors suit up to face Hamilton with a chance to extend their Dolphin careers just a bit longer, we can celebrate all that they have been through, and hope for more. We can all thank them for the opportunity they have given us to watch them become the hard-nosed, dedicated, poised, skilled, competitive and tough football players that they are today. We can all be proud of them. Thank you and good luck seniors! Keep it going. We fans, friends and family want this party to continue!
